Hello, I'm Sven.

I moved to NYC a few years ago to pursue my comedy dreams, either with a spot on the Tonight Show or a writing gig on the Daily Show. I started this moving company six months later with the purchase of a beat-up 1990 Dodge van off Ebay and a couple postings on Craigslist, because I was tired of waiting tables. I wanted a job that didn’t drain my soul (like waiting tables can) and left evenings free for comedy.

I realized quickly that New Yorkers move a lot, and none of them have vehicles. I also realized that a lot of moving companies are pretty shady when I heard stories from my customers. They expressed how grateful they where that I was friendly and honest, and that I moved quickly. Those customers referred their friends and came back to me again and again as they tried to find their perfect New York City apartment.

I soon needed people to assist me on the jobs, and found my employees among the comedians, writers, actors and artists I had befriended in the evenings at open-mics and shows. All of my employees are in the arts in some medium or another.

I’ve since upgraded the van, and added larger box trucks to my fleet. I keep things simple to keep prices down. New York is expensive enough. The same customers keep coming back to me, sending their friends and family to me for all their moving needs, be it an entire apartment or just a couch they bought on Craigslist.

I’m still pursuing comedy, although have switched to writing more than performing. Stand-up comedy can be a hard life, and I like to see my wife at night (no, really). I enjoy supporting my friends/employees in their artistic pursuits by giving them work to support themselves and the flexibility to audition, tour, gig and create.
